Harry Redknapp asked his friend Anne Hegerty, who is known for her role as The Governess on The Chase, to be one of his phone a friends on the celebrity edition of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, which aired last month. Unfortunately, the star crashed out of the competition early, which the chaser has since branded “unfortunate” in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.
Football legend Harry, 74, was left red faced after he failed to walk away with any money, though he did dig into his own pockets afterwards to ensure his charity wasn’t left empty-handed.
Harry managed to become the first celebrity to play on the game show without winning any cash for a good cause, which his pal Anne, 63, has remarked on.
When asked about whether she might have been able to help Harry answer his questions on the ITV Palooza red carpet, she replied: “Yeah, I definitely would have known the answer – it’s unfortunate.”
The Chase star had even agreed to be Harry’s helpline on the show.

“I was going to be his phone a friend!” Anne exclaimed.
“I was sitting there and there were two security guys in the garden and I had the window open and they were peering through just to make sure I wasn’t cheating, or that I wasn’t on the phone to anyone.”
However, Anne’s time waiting for Harry to call in was cut short when he left the competition earlier than expected.
She continued: “Then we suddenly got told, ‘OK, pack up, you know, you’re not needed.’
“And I thought, ‘Oh, he must have asked someone else,’ but oh no…”
The former football manager and player left show host Jeremy Clarkson, 61, astonished when he crashed out of the competition early without any money in the bank.
The star was reportedly embarrassed that he only managed to answer three questions correctly, raising a total of just £300 before going bust on his £500 question.
The question he failed to answer correctly was: “Who has played the Vietnam veteran John Rambo in five action films?”

The football pro selected Bruce Willis as his final answer, when it was in fact Sylvester Stallone.
Nevertheless, Anne went on to gush about her former campmate, who she claimed knows “a lot” about other subjects, suggesting that perhaps it just wasn’t his day.
“I mean, he’s a lovely guy and there’s a ton of stuff that he does know far more about than I do,” the quizzer explained.
“And I always say my great regret in the jungle is that I didn’t listen to more of his stories.
“Because he has some great stories and I could have learned some really useful things.”
The rules of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? stipulate that a player must answer five questions correctly in order to win a guaranteed prize of £1,000 to take away.
Therefore, by only answering three questions, Harry was unable to secure any money.
Nonetheless, Harry can still brag about his stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! back in 2018, where he went on to win over the hearts of the public and was subsequently crowned king of the jungle.
Anne finished up in seventh place, leaving on day 18 of the popular ITV show.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’s celebrity special continues tonight at 9:15pm on ITV.
