GAINESVILLE, Fla. — New Florida coach Billy Napier‘s staff has added two more names in the past 24 hours. Well, one new and one old.
The Gators announced Tuesday evening that Paul Pasqualoni has been retained on Napier’s staff as the program’s director of advanced scouting and self scout. Pasqualoni came to Florida in 2020 as a special assistant to the head coach on Dan Mullen’s staff.
Pasqualoni worked for Mullen breaking down opposing defenses to aid in advanced prep work for games, while also evaluating Mullen’s program from a macro view.
That Napier made the decision to retain him — he’s only the second announced retention from the off-the-field staff so far, joining director of student-athlete development Vernell Brown — likely indicates the new Florida coach found his takes on the state of the Florida program quite useful. In executing a turnaround, identifying some of what went wrong was a high priority for Napier.
On Wednesday, Napier and the program also announced another new staff hire. The Gators have tapped Kelsee Gomes as the director of sports nutrition for football. Gomes comes to Florida after having overseen several departments at North Carolina from 2015-2021.
She worked with the baseball, men’s hockey, field hockey, football, gymnastics, women’s lacrosse and volleyball programs at UNC.
Gomes has previous experience at Florida, too. She was on staff as a coordinator of sports nutrition under Will Muschamp in 2012, staying on staff at UF until 2015.
She had previously spent two years as a nutritionist consultant at UCF from 2011-12 and worked at the traumatic brain injury and rehab unit at Orlando Regional Medical Center from 2009-11.
Gomes is credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (RD), a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), a certified LEAP Therapist (CLT) specializing in food sensitivities and is also certified in adult weight management by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
