This unique property, built by a former AOL employee in 1999, was designed to offer the quietude of country living on 5.6 acres of land, with swanky amenities including a detached pool house, hot tub house, theater and gym on the lower level of the main home. The property is listed for $1.35 million.
According to Long and Foster real estate agent Diana Geremia, the builder of the property, “had financial difficulties after he went through his money,” she said. “The current owner bought it as a short sale,” and then proceeded to spend several hundreds of thousands of dollars in upgrades.
“The land surrounding the home has a creek running through it, allowing prospective owners to keep horses or other small animals, Geremia said. An ornate topiary garden greets visitors at the entrance to the property, inviting guests to meander about a winding path with brick pavers, shrubbery and fountains before arriving at the front entrance to the main residence.
A fountain stands in the middle of the paved walkway leading up to the front of the home, with thick shrubbery flanking both sides of a central path leading to the front door. A porch with an enclosed colonnade provides a comfortable sitting area to take in the garden from the entrance to the residence. Its façade features beige siding, pine green shutters and recessed lights overhead.
The home’s interior features a light and airy ambiance, with oak-toned hardwood floors, beige walls and white ceilings and trim. A hallway runs along the center of the main level from the front entrance, branching off into an office on the left and a formal dining room on the right. A family room with a wood-burning stone fireplace in the center stands at the rear of the hall across from the main entrance.
The home’s kitchen includes recessed lights and speakers built into the ceiling, as well as lighting beneath and inside some of the maple-toned cabinets, a gas stove set into one of the granite countertops and an adjacent dining area with large windows that allow guests to take in some of the surrounding wooded landscape.
The main level of the residence has an owner’s suite with a detached sitting room, where plush carpeting and bay windows next to a cozy fireplace provide an intimate place for relaxation. The adjoining bathroom features beige walls, sandy brown tilework, a detached shower cabin and several windows that overlook the home’s back porch.
Off to the side of the family room, a stone bar and sunroom overlooks a pool behind the house, standing out as one of the marquee features of the property. The lower level of the residence includes amenities such as a theater and gym room, a bed and bathroom, as well as a separate kitchen for an in-law suite.
The upper level of the main residence includes three bathrooms and four spacious bedrooms with bright, white walls and light carpeting throughout. The freestanding hot tub house behind the residence features floor-to-ceiling windows that allow guests to take in the natural vista, and Geremia said hobbyists would be eager to tinker in a separate third-car garage beneath the pool house.
