A banking and legal executive has been appointed to a prominent position with a local law firm.
B. Shane Clanton has been named counsel for Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP’s banking and financial services practice group in Birmingham.
Clanton had previous roles as general counsel for BBVA USA, chief legal officer for BBVA’s domestic operations and CEO of BBVA USA. He has also worked as senior deputy general counsel for PNC Bank.
“Shane’s leadership of a legal team for a major financial services company gives him unique insight into the challenges facing our clients in this industry,” said Bradley’s Birmingham office managing partner, Dawn Helms Sharff.
Clanton has 22 years of experience as a leading legal officer for major U.S. banks. He has previously served on the board of directors for the Consumer Bankers Association as well as BBVA USA Bancshares Inc., BBVA USA and multiple fintech companies. He also previously served on the Board of Trustees of the Institute of International Bankers.
Clanton’s role with the Institute of International Bankers ended when BBVA USA was sold to PNC.
