CLEVELAND, Ohio — Lawn & Landscape, the leading business media serving the landscape and lawncare industry, is excited to announce the return of the Lawn & Landscape Technology Conference. The 2 ½ day event will take place Aug. 10-12, 2022, at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Now in it’s third year, the Lawn & Landscape Technology Conference will bring together top-level decision makers in the green industry to learn from technology experts as well as fellow landscape professionals who have successfully integrated software and technology into their companies.

Continuing in 2022, a Virtual Only option pass will be available.
“Technology is changing the way businesses operate in the landscape market,” said Lawn & Landscape Editor Brian Horn. “The solutions on the horizon address many of the industry’s largest concerns such as the labor shortage. Our education program is completely focused on how landscape professionals are using technology and software to operate more efficient and profitable businesses.”
Attendees will also have access to a 22,000 square-foot exhibit hall featuring the latest technology and software companies serving the professional landscape and lawn care markets. Throughout the conference, attendees will also find ample time for organized networking.
“The majority of our attendees are C-suite and Upper Management decision-makers with major buying power, so being able to provide them direct access to the top technology and software companies has always been the goal of this conference,” Lawn & Landscape Publisher Dave Szy said. “We are proud to continue to provide this exclusive venue for them to connect.”

Headquartered in Bellbrook, Ohio, Green Velvet was founded in 1959.
Heritage Landscape Supply Group, Inc., has acquired Green Velvet, a wholesaler of fertilizer, seed, sod, and other turf & ornamental products.
Headquartered in Bellbrook, Ohio, Green Velvet was founded in 1959 by Ray & Mary Tischer and is run today by their son, Randy Tischer, and his wife, Beth. The company employs a team of over 40 professionals and operates out of four locations throughout Southwest and Central Ohio. Randy will continue to lead the company’s dedicated employee base going forward alongside General Manager, Nick Janovich, ensuring continuity and consistency for customer and supplier partners.
“We are honored to welcome the Tischer family and the entire Green Velvet team to the Heritage family of companies,” said Matt McDermott, president of Heritage. “Green Velvet is a perfect complement to our existing Wolf Creek branches in Ohio and greatly increases our presence in the agronomics / turf & ornamental product categories. The Tischer family has built an outstanding family business that embodies loyal customer service with operational integrity, and we are delighted to have them on our team.”
“For the last 63 years Green Velvet has earned a reputation for providing exceptional service, trusted advice, and dependable products to landscape professionals, sports turf managers and golf course superintendents throughout the Midwest,” added Randy Tischer. “As we look towards the future, our newfound partnership with Heritage will allow us to continue doing what made us successful while providing growth opportunities for both our company and our employees. We are thrilled to have found a partner in Heritage that shares our commitment to customer service and will protect the legacy our dedicated team has created over the years.”
The company will sponsor GreenCare for the Troops for the fourth consecutive year.
OCALA, Fla. — Arborjet | Ecologel, for the fourth consecutive year, will be an official sponsor of Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops program in 2022.
“We are proud to support Project EverGreen as their mission directly aligns with our philosophy of preserving green spaces, including lawns, trees, parks and communities in a sustainable way. Through the GreenCare for Troops program, we get to help carry out that mission while also supporting our military families,” said Ecologel President Rick Irwin.
GreenCare for Troops (GCFT) is a need-based program for active-duty deployed service members. Last year, the program engaged 2,000 active volunteers, who helped more than 1,000 military families maintain their home lawns. Since its inception, more than 11,000 military families and 7,000 contractors have registered for the program. During the COVID-19 crisis, Project EverGreen has expanded the GCFT and SnowCare for Troops (SCFT) programs to offer landscaping services and snow removal for healthcare workers.
Ecologel is a natural fit for the program as they are a developer and manufacturer of innovative products for water conservation. One of their flagship products, Hydretain® is a soil moisture management technology that is designed to significantly reduce watering requirements of turfgrasses, trees, shrubs, flowers, containers plants and agriculture by as much as 50%.
Ecologel has committed to provide free Hydretain products to help maintain the lawns and landscapes of deployed military personnel, while also helping them reduce their water bills. Through GCFT military personnel can request lawn and landscaping services during their period of deployment. Lawn and landscape professionals volunteer to provide these services and once they are matched, volunteers receive access to coupons for free Hydretain products.
In 2021, Ecologel began offering another beneficial product pertaining to SnowCare for Troops. Na-X, which quickly reduces sodium levels in the soil, can be used to flush sodium left behind from the use of ice-melt products. Na-X will continue to be made available to volunteers through the 2022 sponsorship.
Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, Project EverGreen is a national non-profit organization committed to creating a “greener, healthier, cooler Earth by supporting the creation, renovation and revitalization of managed yards, parks and public green spaces that result in healthier, happier people.”
“We feel fortunate to have Ecologel on board as a Silver Sponsor working toward the common goal of preserving ‘green spaces’ while supporting GCFT and SCFT across the country. Our goal is to create environments that bring families, neighbors, and communities together. We build and support communities by shaping the natural world in such a way that our neighbors today, and future generations may enjoy and appreciate,” stated Cindy Code, executive director of Project EverGreen.

A sustainable robotoic mowing company, MowFleet uses 98% less energy compared to ride-on mowers.
Two robotic lawn care companies are now partnering to introduce Mowfleet to the market. Together with Illinois-based Automated Outdoor Solutions, Swedish greentech innovator Robotic Lawn Care Systems is determined to automate and digitalize the landscaping industry, enabling professional lawn mowing at a lower cost and at zero emissions.
“MowFleet operates independent of grid connection – it does so in a sustainable way as well. I see it as a significant addition to the AOS portfolio, greatly expanding our market opportunities. A win-win-win, with the end customer as the most obvious and ultimate winner. Finally, the end customer will enjoy a financial upside mowing lawns using automation”, said Joe Langton of Automated Outdoor Solutions.
“Both RLCS and AOS are companies with vast experience in the field of robotic mowers; both sharing an end-user’s perspective after working closely with these users for a total of 40 years,” said Kalle Andersson, CEO of RLCS. Andersson stresses the fact that end users from now on can be fully focused on their core businesses, knowing they will get the best mowing results using a future-proof and quiet system with zero emissions. “We get similar feedback from wherever we present the system: Citizens welcome the staff operating our noise-free solution, as opposed when they arrive with heavy ride-on equipment. The fact that MowFleet uses 98% less energy compared to ride-on mowers, doesn’t hurt either.”
The effort is well timed. California recently passed a law that will ban the sales of gas-powered lawn mowers, effective 2024. The legislation will shake up the landscaping market, that for 2022 is estimated at $10 billion for California alone, and $115 billion for the country.
“We saw it happen with catalytic converters for cars; California paves the way and others will follow. That includes Sweden as well. Not taking steps to leave fossil fuels behind is simply not an option. The legislation is now less than 700 days away, so it’s a great opportunity to adapt and make your business profitable,” Andersson said.
The year 2022 has already created important milestones for the MowFleet U.S. launch. The system recently received its first U.S. patent, covering the solution of grid-independent professional lawn mowing. And now, in collaboration with Automated Outdoor Solutions, the system will be on display in booth 1544 at iLandscapeshow.com – The Illinois + Wisconsin Landscape Show.
“It may sound like a cliché, but a leading automation dedicated company and end-user expert like AOS is the perfect partner for us. Their dedication to bridge the gap between greentech innovators like ourselves and the end customer will be instrumental to our success entering the U.S. market,” Andersson said.
The deadline for entry is Thursday, March 31, 2022.
