Lucas Thomashow has been promoted to Senior Vice President at AVEX USA, the US division of the Japanese music and entertainment company which expanded into North America in April 2021.
Thomashow will head overall strategy and operations at AVEX USA, and spearhead operations for the label, its publishing, and Avex USA’s tech investments.
Thomashow was previously Head of Music at Brat TV, and also worked at Google.
At AVEX USA, he will leverage his background in venture-backed media and tech to “identify and implement creative solutions for a modern major-boutique music company in a new digital era”, says the company.
Thomashow is the founder of SELENE, a record label and a core division of AVEX USA that helped break emerging artists like Sadie Jean, Austin George, Sophie Holohan and Zach Hood.
Sadie Jean’s debut single WYD Now? has gained over 30 million streams to date, while Austin George has clocked up 1.5m monthly listeners on Spotify after two single releases.
Thomashow has been key to AVEX USA’s Publishing division, says the company, managing partnerships between Avex USA and Brandon Silverstein’s S10 Entertainment, which includes representation for Justin Bieber collaborator Harv and The Kid Laroi’s collaborator Cxdy from Internet Money.
On January 19, S10 and AVEX USA signed a multi-year extension to the two company’s joint venture publishing partnership.
Avex USA and S10 will also now be representing KOSA, the songwriter and producer behind hits for RVSSIAN, Lil Baby, Future, Bad Bunny, andTravis Scott.
