The Sonora High School golf team participated in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament last Thursday, Feb. 3, through Sunday, Feb. 6. This was the 26th year of participation.
Sonora High golfers Jake Clay, Sam Denton, Chris Parish and Micah Bull made the trip. Their duty was to walk the course with many famous professional golfers and celebrities, providing visual scoreboards for the public attendees and TV viewers.
One of the most exciting events on the PGA Tour, the AT&T Pro-Am is contested in front of thousands of spectators and millions of television viewers on three of the Monterey Peninsula’s premier courses: Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Monterey Peninsula Golf Club.
Among the participants were top PGA professionals Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, Camilo Villegas, Justin Rose and Jason Day, to name a few, along with celebrities Bill Murray, Ray Romano, Larry Fitzgerald, Don Cheadle, Canelo Alverez, Josh Allen, and many others.
“We are well-represented by these young men,” said Sonora High golf coach Paul Jeffers. “I received many compliments on their behalf, as well as an invitation to bring my girls team in the future.”
