PHOENIX — A Valley center that assists adults and children with Down syndrome will debut its fitness studio this weekend.
GiGi’s Playhouse will open the GiGiFIT Studio, located at 92nd Street and Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale, on Saturday, according to a press release.
The grand opening event, which will go from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will include a ribbon cutting, fitness demonstrations and tours of the facility.
“We are so excited to be opening the GiGiFIT Studio,” Robin Lea-Amos, executive director, said in the release.
“We have been aiming to build a fitness studio for some time to offer our community more fitness classes and promote health, socialization and leadership opportunities.”
Funding for the studio came from nonprofit civic group Scottsdale Charros and the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority.
The organization expects to help twice as many families with the addition of the space, which is next to GiGi’s Playhouse.
GiGi’s Playhouse serves 800 families and offers about 9,000 hours of free programming, namely therapeutic and educational programs that advance literacy, math skills, motor skills and more, per year.
