Fire engulfs a commercial business complex in Westlake – KPLC

Westlake, LA (KPLC) – Investigators are rummaging through the rubble of three businesses burnt to a crisp Friday night in Westlake. Igniting the night sky, flames could be seen from miles away from the scene on Sampson Street. There, hot ribbons of light surrounded a commercial business complex, burning through Cajun Pools, RD Spell Incorporated, and Forged N Bliss Nutrition.
“Oh man, I mean there’s 3 businesses there you know,” business owner Chad Miller said. “All three of those businesses – I can’t imagine what they are going through right now.”
Chad Miller owns Miller’s Super Saver which neighbors the commercial complex. Racing to the scene and only seeing smoke, he says it was heartbreaking for a fellow business owner to witness.
“All I saw was smoke,” Miller said. “It was like it was just smoldering for a long time. Firemen drilled a hole in the side of the building and then you could see smoke billowing out of there and then you started to see some flames coming out of the sides here.”
Groups of fire crews from multiple departments battled the blaze for hours as the flame had no pity consuming whatever lied in it’s path. Other business owners are grateful there were no trees nearby in case the fire spread.
“Your heart hurts for them you know?” Miller said. “We’re just thankful it’s not us.”
We’ll continue to provide updates as they become available.
