UEFA enters the world of Fan Tokens – Marca English

Joins more than 120 sports organisations
UEFA has announced an agreement with Socios.com, the platform that brought fan tokens to the world of sport.
The company which uses blockchain technology and specialises in creating interactive initiatives between fans and sports clubs, can offer its users the possibility of accessing the organisation’s events, as well as different VIP experiences, such as meeting footballers and legends, or tickets and other official UEFA products.
With this partnership, UEFA joins the world of fan token technology, a universe that already boasts more than 120 international sports organisations who use Fan Tokens to actively engage with their fans. The list includes world football giants such as Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter , Atletico Madrid, Corinthians, Flamengo, River Plate and Sevilla, the latest major club to join the platform.
In addition, Formula 1 teams, NBA franchises, NHL, NFL, MLS and esports clubs have also joined forces with the fan token platform and are already engaging in various activities through Socios.
This agreement means that Socios.com will become a Global Licensee and Regional Sponsor of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League and UEFA Super Cup.
Additionally, Socios will become a Regional Sponsor of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup in the United States for the 2021-2024 cycle. This agreement comes as a result of an open bidding process conducted by UEFA among blockchain product and service providers.
As a result of the agreement with UEFA, Socios.com will use its rights to strengthen the usability and service of its Fan Tokens by providing its users with Fan Tokens specific to UEFA’s men’s club competitions.
A Fan Token is a digital tool that seeks to bring fans closer to their clubs through blockchain technology. In 2021, socios.com partner clubs launched more than 300 surveys through their app, giving fans the ability to name club facilities, choose kit designs, have a say on new signings, and plenty more.
The Socios.com app is available for iOS and Android and currently has more than 1.3 million users in 167 different countries. The platform grew by more than 500 percent in both partners and users in 2021, and plans to continue to increase its numbers in 2022, adding new partnerships and expanding into new markets.
