4 Berks Career and Technology Center students win art awards – Reading Eagle

TRENDING:
Four students from Berks Career and Technology Center were recognized Sunday at the Art + Effect gallery exhibit at Cabrini University, including one whose work was awarded best in show.
The Art + Effect gallery exhibit asked high school students to create posters about maintaining a sense of community through the COVID pandemic. The submissions were to focus on solutions and the positive impact community has on society.
A total of 126 entries were received from students in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Illinois. They were judged based on originality, craftsmanship and thematic message.
Carlie Clevenstine, a junior from Wilson High School, earned the title of best in show and will receive a $500 prize.
Clevenstine also received an award of merit, as did:
• Jayden Bartley, a senior from Exeter High School.
• Reagan Daubert, a senior from Brandywine Heights High School.
• Alayna Lafferty, a junior from Schuylkill Valley High School.
“Jayden, Carlie, Reagan and Alayna all had unique interpretations of the contest theme and each did an excellent job implementing skills learned in the classroom to bring those visions to life in dynamic and impactful designs,” said Beth Ireland, the students’ advertising, art and design technology teacher at the career and technology center.
A selection of 15 works will be displayed in an exhibition at the Gorevin Gallery at Cabrini University in Radnor, Delaware County, until Jan. 12.
