With the Covid-19 pandemic continuing to disrupt lives on a global basis, some business owners are cranking up their digital efforts to communicate with potential customers, and that trend has kept some Valley web design firms hopping, even if they can’t get everyone in the office at the same time.
In compiling last week’s Web Design Firms list, we asked a few optional questions in regards to the state of the digital specialty and received a variety of answers.
How has the pandemic impacted your business in 2021? Has this impacted staffing?
“Many of our customers accelerated their digital plans in 2021 which kept us busy. However, working remotely made it hard to onboard and train new employees and integrate them into our culture. It also was more difficult to hire since remote work opened up new opportunities for people.” — Justin Grossman, managing partner, meltmedia
“The pandemic has actually accelerated a five-year plan. It has allowed us to move our staff to a fluid office/home working environment far sooner than expected.” — Roger Hurni, chief creative officer, Off Madison Ave
“RIESTER’s health, financial and grocery-related clients continued to flourish during 2021, which provided balance to our company while our clients in other industries more negatively impacted by the pandemic continued their recovery. Flexible and hybrid (remote and in-office) work schedules continued at RIESTER during 2021, in order to preserve safe and healthy work environments for our staff and visiting clients.” — Tim Riester, CEO, RIESTER
“Initial drop while the world was frozen, but quickly came back due to clients getting PPP. Staffing has been significantly harder than before, and everyone is asking for raises.” — Dallin Harris, president/CEO, Skyhook Interactive
“BANG! has actually grown during the pandemic as more clients realize their online presence may be the only way to connect with customers.” — Brian Rideout, chief pixel pusher, BANG! Web Site Design
What design trends do you think web surfers will be noticing over the next year or so?
“Big images are back again after being toned down a bit when we worried about mobile device bandwidth. With 5G that has become less of an issue. But don’t get too carried away as Google’s Core Vitals will be a factor in search rankings in 2022.” — Rideout
“Effective websites will offer great, fast user experiences and more personalization than ever.” — Sheila Kloefkorn, president/CEO, KEO Marketing Inc.
“Behavioral analytics will become a critical web design trend that will be integrated into the development and design of every site.” — Hurni
“Use of video, animation and clean design will continue to perform more successfully in digital marketing campaigns during 2022.” — Riester
“Better looking, more up-to-date websites in general, owing to improved tools that allow businesses and creatives to make (nice looking) updates themselves.” — Harris
