“I like it”: Cher comments on celebrities imitating her style – The San Francisco Times

Admittedly, several red carpet looks are Cher-inspired, with the singer’s sheer dresses fascination and elegant two-piece sets, but it is something that does not bother the fashion icon, US Weekly wrote.
In an interview with Vogue on Jan. 4, 75-year-old Cher said that she is aware of the big celebrities, from Kim Kardashian to Emily Ratajkowski, who had taken inspiration from her attire in the past.
“I like it,” she said. “I see all the young girls kind of wearing things that I’ve worn my whole life. They think it’s new or they see a picture and they love it, so they do their own version. Or they do my version. It doesn’t both me.”
But the “If I Can Turn Back Time” singer did not begin with a designer outfit, despite that most of her notable styles are couture creations.
“We had a look that people just really didn’t understand at all. We were so proud of our look and our clothes, but we couldn’t get on a lot of shows,” she said. “No one was doing what we doing. There weren’t stylists to take on people who were unknown or doing something really different.”
She became a famous design icon even without the help of a professional crew. Her fashion style began with handmade bell bottoms, then he formed a team with Bob Mackie and keeps the partnership at present.
“Bob Mackie was so ahead of everyone and he had the luxury of never caring what it was,” she revealed. “It was never too little, it was never too much bling. I was always thrilled with everything he gave me. I don’t think I ever disliked — maybe one or two dresses, that was about it, and it was because of the color.”
Cher turned heads during the 1974 Met Gala when she wore a sheer gown from the designer. Through the years, stars did their own look at the event.
Kim Kardashian’s 2015 Met Gala look was inspired by Cher.
“Tonight’s inspiration! Cher at the 1st ever Met Gala! I just met her and told her this photo was my inspiration for my dress tonight,” Kardashian wrote on Instagram. “She is so beautiful! So happy I met her!”
The struggle you’re in today is developing
the strength you need for tomorrow.
Don’t give up.
