LIMA — King of Hartz Nutrition opened Wednesday at 1062 Bellefontaine Ave. in Lima.
The business is owned by Chris Hartzell.
“I’ve always wanted to own my own business,” Hartzell said. “Not only do we serve shakes and teas, we have waffle bowls and parfaits.”
The business is similar to others that have cropped up in the area like Sblended Nutrition and Phoenix Nutrition in Lima and The Lantern in Bluffton.
“I think we all bring something a little bit different to the table where traditional clubs, they do a shake, aloe, tea and that’s kind of where they go with it. We just opened and not only are we doing shake, teas and aloe but we’re also doing different types of food. We’re trying to come in with some omelet ideas and actually bring like a breakfast meal, lunch meal, dinner meal, instead of just traditional shakes,” Hartzell said.
Hartzell is excited to be opening his store now which is situated in a high traffic location.
“The whole idea was to get a location that was convenient. We have Lima Senior down the street, Lima Memorial across the street (we’re) in between two pretty busy restaurants, Pizza Hut and Happy Daz so there’s a lot of walking traffic and driving traffic right off the highway,” Hartzell said.
Hartzell was planning a grand opening Dec. 18.
“That is going to be a huge event, like to call it a party. We got some door prizes we want to give out. We’ve got some drink specials that we’re going to run,” Hartzell said.
Hartzell is hoping to also help people to get healthy.
“I got my foot in the door of the first club that I’ve ever been to — The Well in Van Wert. Then basically it all changed. From there I lost 20 pounds and then gained about 10 pounds of lean muscle but not only that the mindset, it really helped me and there’s a lot of community involvement with this. So not only do we serve shakes, we also enjoy being involved with the youth. You’ve got to start them when they’re young, start the healthy habits,” Hartzell said.
King of Hartz Nutrition is open from 6 a.m to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
