Nutrition Management: Treating Cardiometabolic Disease is a unique and practical continuing education learning opportunity for physicians, nurses, dieticians and other health care professionals, focusing on clinical strategies to improve care for patients with cardiometabolic diseases.
Developed by Harvard Medical School and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, this skill-based live, virtual course is designed for clinicians treating patients with cardiometabolic disease. The course will provide the latest scientific information supporting current guidelines, practical recommendations, and controversies in the field of medical nutrition management for people living with cardiometabolic diseases that include obesity, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular and renal diseases.
All sessions will be taking place virtually. After registering and completing your payment, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and further details on how to virtually join the course will be provided within 1 week of the course start date.
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the most recent general nutrition guidelines and the current status of their implementation in the US population.
  • Recognize specific nutrition recommendations for the prevention and management of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and cardiovascular/renal disease.
  • Describe current controversies around commonly recommended meal plans along with their scientific support or lack thereof.
  • Design practical approaches for clinical practice settings to assess patients’ nutritional habits and provide meaningful interventions.
  • Recognize challenges and opportunities to implement nutritional recommendations in underserved communities.
  • Incorporate effective communication skills in nutrition counseling taking into consideration the diversity of cultural significance and attitudes regarding food.

By attending this course, you will become fully aware of the practical nutrition recommendations to provide to your patients with or at risk for cardiometabolic derangements that include obesity, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular and chronic renal disease.
You will learn from leading faculty from the Harvard Medical School and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, who will provide the most updated scientific information that contribute to current nutrition guidelines and practical recommendations. Faculty will present and lead discussions in an online live virtual format on the most relevant issues in this field and related practical solutions.
