Ura Seeger Memorial Auditorium welcomes back live entertainment – Journal & Courier
WEST LEBANON and WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — After first opening its doors in October 2020, the Ura Seeger Memorial Auditorium has started welcoming back live entertainment guests for its 2022-23 season, including upcoming country musician and Purdue graduate, Levi Riggs.
The Ura Seeger Memorial Auditorium, owned by and located just behind Seeger Jr-Sr High School, will be hosting multiple live entertainment guests this season with the first being Riggs’ free public concert at 7 p.m. Jan. 15.
“(Riggs) is really interested in helping us get this place up and going,” Ervin Collins, the auditorium supervisor said. “Levi is a local talent. He’s a Purdue graduate from Danville, Indiana. He has a big crowd-draw in the area.”
Additional shows coming up at the Ura Seeger Memorial Auditorium include a Mystery Dinner Theater event at 6 p.m. Jan. 22, and “Dinosaur World Live” 7:30 p.m. Feb. 9.
“We have a culinary arts program at (Seeger Jr-Sr High School). They do a lot of catering for events, so they’re catering the meal (for Mystery Dinner Theater,)” Collins said. “It’ll be a three course meal and while you’re eating, you get to watch the play and see how things unfold. The audience will get to question the actors and see if they can figure out how the guilty party is.
“At the end of the evening, the guilty party will be revealed and we’ll see which tables have successfully figured out who it was. We’ll have some little prizes for them.”

In order to continue providing live entertainment, the Ura Seeger Memorial Auditorium will need to raise $50,000 to cover expenses. As such, participating in any of the fundraising events, such as the free Riggs concert or the Mystery Dinner Theater, along with donating to the auditorium is greatly appreciated.
“The superintendent of the school corporation really wants us to be a facility that gives back to the community,” Collins said, “and be a place where the local community can come and experience good, quality, family entertainment.
“(I’m looking forward) getting up and going where we’re routinely bringing in shows and getting the facility utilized by the public. I’d love to see a full house in here someday.”
