WSP USA triples leased space in Buffalo's Waterfront Village Center – Buffalo Business First – Buffalo Business First

Two years after acquiring Ecology and Environment Inc., WSP USA Inc. has strengthened its foothold in the Upstate marketplace by nearly tripling its Buffalo office space.
The Montreal-based, privately held WSP increased office space in the Waterfront Village Center from 6,000 to 17,000 square feet. The Buffalo office is the Upstate headquarters for WSP, an international engineering conglomerate.
The lease was finalized in mid-December by the building’s landlord, Cedarland Development Group.
WSP had been scouting downtown Buffalo locations but decided to remain in Waterfront Village Center and shift from the 50 La Riviere Drive building to the 40 La Riviere Drive. WSP will have more than 100 people working in the Waterfront Village Center, though many will work remotely.
“The bottom line is we are glad to keep them here, and more importantly, in downtown Buffalo,” said Cedarland Vice President Kevin Dagher. “That companies are still out there signing leases is a good sign for the economy.”
Besides WSP, other tenants in Waterfront Village Center include SaveOnSP, Mobile Primary Care and Avalon Document Services.
WSP put the former Ecology & Environment headquarters on Pleasantview Drive in Lancaster on the market in 2020. The building was acquired in 2021 by Upstate Niagara Cooperative Inc.
Cedarland, through its D&S Capital R/E III LLC affiliate, bought the Waterfront Village Center complex in 2014. The three buildings in Waterfront Village Center total 230,000 square feet and are nearly 90% leased, Dagher said.
Dagher and Clarke Thrasher of Hunt Commercial Real Estate jointly brokered the WSP deal.
WSP officials couldn’t be reached for comment.
