Helen M. Schamberg, 92, of Montoursville, passed away on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021, at Muncy Place.
Born on Feb. 12, 1929, in Taylor, Pa., she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (Colleran) O’Malley.
Helen loved to cook, play bingo and organize bus trips for the Montoursville Senior Citizens. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Montoursville. When the church was built, Helen was instrumental in organizing a volunteer catering service in order to help pay off the church mortgage. In her later years, she chaired the weekly bingo.
Surviving is her son, William J. (Donna) Schamberg of Montoursville; daughter, Barbara A. (Peter) Burchanowski of Hughesville; grandsons, Brian Burchanowski of Seneca, Pa., Bradley Burchanowski of Hughesville, Joshua (Brianna) Schamberg of North Pole, Alaska, Cody Schamberg of Montoursville; great granddaughters, Charlotte and Natalie Schamberg, both of North Pole, Alaska.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Philip F. Schamberg, Jr.; and her brothers, James, Bernard, Joseph, Martin and Patrick O’Malley.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 100 Walnut St., Montoursville, with her pastor, Reverend Michael S. McCormick as celebrant. Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helen’s name to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 100 Walnut St., Montoursville, Pa., 17754.
