Youngstown State bowlers Lyndsay Ennis, Madyson Marx and Kirsten Moore will each bowl in the 2022 USBC Team USA Trials in Las Vegas this week.
The trials are being held at the Gold Coast Bowling Center inside the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino from Jan. 2-7. The event is open to USBC members age 16 and older, and the Penguin trio will be competing for spots and both the adult and junior team USA.
Ennis already secured a spot on the 2022 Junior Team USA for her performance at the 2021 Junior Gold Championships. At the national tournament last July, Ennis had the fifth-highest qualifying total in the U18 division to earn one of six positions that were awarded on the national team. This season as a freshman at YSU, she is averaging 197.5 in traditional play and has surpassed 200 in eight of her 16 games.
Marx is averaging 185.7 this season over seven traditional games and has a high game of 238. Last season she earned a spot on the inaugural NTCA All-Freshman Team as she had the highest Baker double percentage in the country at .642. She averaged 200.7 over 27 games in 2020-21.
Moore is averaging 188.3 in her 12 games this season and has a high game of 243. In 2020-21, she averaged 197.4 overall and 207.7 over the last four tournaments of the season. She competed at Junior Gold over the summer like Ennis, and she made a late surge to finish 21st in the U18 division.
